Position Summary
Assists in smooth daily operations of the OB and NICU units. Including operating rooms by performing room preparation and assembling needed supplies and instruments. Maintains sterile field, provides surgical instruments for surgeons during operative procedures. Initiates proper counts throughout procedure. Delivers surgical specimens/cultures from operative field to circulating nurse. Provides secretarial, technician, and other duties as assigned by the RN on the OB floor, in the NICU and well: baby nursery including but not limited to, putting in orders, cleaning equipment, stocking, greeting patients and families, lab work on babies, assisting with well:baby care.
Minimum Education Requirements
:High School graduate or GED Associates Degree, preferred
:Medical school or nursing school, preferred
Minimum Experience Requirements
:CNA experience, preferred
:EMT experience, preferred
:Surgical Tech experience, preferred
License/Certifications
:Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association upon hire or within 3 months
:Registered in the State of Colorado as a Surgical Tech (RST) or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )
Verifies surgical procedure with circulator, physician and other team members*
Accurately performs all sponge, sharps and instrument counts at appropriate times with the circulating RN during the surgical procedure.*
Demonstrates safe use of instruments, equipment, suture and stapling devices.*
Assists with patient and equipment transport demonstrating proper body mechanics and safety techniques.*
Demonstrates understanding of hemostatic products *
Demonstrates proper safety procedures with cautery*
Responsible for scrubbing for c:sections, setting up delivery tables for vaginal delivery*
Obtains and records vital signs, reporting any deviations from normal to RN*
Assists in passing and setting up patient's tray. Passes water, beverages to patients.*
Responds to patient's call lights promptly and notifies appropriate personnel of patient's needs*
Collects, measures and records intake (oral) and output (diapers, foley drains). Reports to RN.*
Collects specimens as directed by RN*
Performs other tasks as directed by RN*
Assists with care of neonates as delegated by RN, including but not limited to: bathing infants, VS of infants, bottle feeding, transporting, cord care and weighing of i
