Requisition xxxx5 Category Operations-Sourcing Business Surgical Technologies Division RTG ST-ENT Location USA-CO-Louisville Relocation No relocation assistance Job Type Full Time - Regular Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt Shift First Travel Percentage 20 - 30% Experience Required 7 years Education Required Bachelors Degree Share: Facebook LinkedIn Twitter Position Description This position has the responsibility and authority for all aspects of raw material supplier relationships, including contract negotiation and management, risk assessment and mitigation, Supplier controls, material cost reductions related to supplier continuous improvement and innovation and Supplier diversity improvement. This position also implements supply base optimization strategies and assists in the selection and qualification of Suppliers within operations. The Sourcing Specialist coordinates and follows up with production, warehouse, engineering and NPD personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling and movement of materials. Position Responsibilities 1. Strategic Sourcing Identify sourcing requirements Plan, prepare and manage Request for Proposals / Request for Quotations Conduct Supplier analysis and selection processes including total cost evaluations and risk assessments Conduct make / buy and outsourcing evaluations Negotiation with Suppliers includes the development of strategies and tactics for effective negotiation Management of overall Supplier Performance At a minimum Quality, Delivery and Cost. Conduct business reviews & provide training on Global Scorecard Metrics to Suppliers. Create and manage risk burn down plans. Uses Supplier Segmentation to lead Supplier selection, Commodity Management and Purchasing Strategies Obtain and communicate market condition and technology trend information regarding commodities and suppliers. Suggest and implement appropriate business strategy changes. Develop technology roadmaps and corresponding supplier roadmaps where needed. Manages short and long term contracts and quality agreements with Suppliers able to negotiate the applicable terms and conditions of purchases, contracts and other aspects of relationship with Suppliers. Ensures long term continuity of supply strategies Drive improvements in supplier capability such as Supplier Managed Inventory and reduced lead-times. 2. Managing Internal Relationships: Ensure needs of stakeholders are holistically met while ensuring compliance to Supplier Management policies and procedures Able to recommend and implement changes in Medtronics purchasing, supply management, and material usage policies. Knows how to disseminate information and provide training related to purchasing and supply management policies and procedures to other groups within Medtronic. Accountable for setting up new projects from the New Product Development Teams into the Sustaining Team to include proper inventory targets and supplier management. 3. Managing External Relationships: Leverage procurement strategies with other Medtronic organizations and Core and High Risk Suppliers Develop, manage, and assess the relationships with suppliers and external business partners. Includes the use of supplier partnerships, strategic alliances, supply chain management, and supplier training programs. 4. Strategic Alignment & Implementation Facilitates organization alignment to resolve strategic issues related to the Supplier Performance issues Configuring & integrating procurement processes Implementing change in internal and external procurement process improvements 5. Supplier Diversity Knows and understands how to develop and implement initiatives and activities to support Medtronics goals in supplier diversity. 6. Process Improvement Developing and implementing projects and programs to standardize efforts; improve processes; and reduce, avoid, or contain costs. Specific skills and knowledge includes the following: - Understands concepts of standardization and process improvement for the sourcing function and is able to participate with others to improve sourcing at Medtronic. - Knows how to develop and implement a cost reduction, cost avoidance, and cost containment program to improve sourcing at Medtronic. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE List the amount of years of experience necessary to perform this job. o Minimum of seven years in a manufacturing operations, supply chain, procurement industry.
