POSITION SUMMARY The Roofing Consultant is responsible for forensic investigations and analysis of roofs, building envelope systems, below-grade construction, condensation issues, air improvement and moisture control systems on residential and commercial properties. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs forensic investigations: commercial and residential roofs, EIFS, stucco, stone, brick, sealants, flashings, air barriers, vapor barriers, plaza decks, sidings, curtain walls, fenestrations, ice damming, wind damage, hail damage and ventilation issues. Prepares investigation reports and recommends scope of work for repairs to damaged components. Develops construction drawings, specifications and bid documents for renovation and restoration projects. Monitors construction progress accurately to ensure general compliance of construction with design documents and manufacturers requirements. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position frequently works outdoors, in all types of weather, and in potentially hazardous environments, which typically involve walking roofs with steep slopes (up to 8"/12" slope). PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is very active and requires working on roofs up to 12 hours a day. This may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The candidate must be able to: Comfortably walk all types of roofs, including tile, shake, shingles, etc., up to 8"/12" slope Negotiate steeper roofs with the use of ladder hooks and tie offs Climb ladders Climb and perform tasks on scaffolding Perform tasks in scissor lifts Lift and/or carry equipment up to 50 pounds POSITION TYPE AND HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Evening and weekend work may be required depending on the specific project scope of work. TRAVEL Travel is daily and can be local or out of the area. The typical travel schedule for catastrophic events is up to two weeks. Yearly average of out of town travel is less than 25% but will be weighted towards the summer. Travel schedule may vary.
