Pewter and China Bicentennial Plate Set (4) in Boulder, Colorado For Sale

Price: $50

Type: Furniture, For Sale - Private.

Is there a patriotic soul on your gift list? Someone who goes all out for Independence Day? A Revolutionary War history buff? A collector of our country's bicentennial memorabilia?
These four plates by the same manufacturer with similar Revolutionary War subjects would make a mighty fine gift set. (Titles: Betsy Ross, Spirit of '76, Declaration of Independence, & Surrender of Cornwallis)
They were all manufactured in xxxx for our country's xxxx bicentennial by the Frankham Brass Co. (in business since xxxx) in Canton, OH. Each plate is solid metal, crafted from an alloy of more than eight different metals to provide durability. Made in a sand mold and poured by hand from molten metal, each plate is unlike any other plate in this edition, with small imperfections that are integral parts of its quality.
The "pewter" alloy perimeter shows "The Great American Revolution" at the top, "xxxx" at the bottom, and three stars on each side of the date. All letters have been filled in with black to give a more antique appearance.
The 6" diameter ceramic center tile in the first one depicts a reproduction of the John Ward Dunsmore painting "Betsy Ross and the First Stars and Stripes." It's Betsy showing off her handiwork to General George & Crew.
The second is a reproduction of the A.M. Willard painting "The Spirit of '76." It shows two drummers, a fife-playing soldier, Betsy's flag, and general battle mêlée in the background - everything you'd want in an American Revolution commemorative plate.
The third depicts a reproduction of the John Trumball painting "Declaration of Independence." It's George & Crew with the rest of the rebels looking on as they sign their lives away.
The fourth shows a reproduction of the John Trumball painting "Surrender of Cornwallis." Cornwallis' troops with a white flag are facing the patriots with Betsy's new flag, all under lowering skies.
The back side of each plate shows an embossed cannon, an embossed tree, the words " Canton, Ohio xxxx," and four sets of initials (SBB, GIF, RVK, and JSR).  On the outer edge of the backside is the number xxxx. Frankham Brass Co. thought of everything: there's a hanger at the top of the backside.
Excellent condition; 10.5" diameter. When I was young and stupid, I threw away the box and papers in a fit of tidiness. Hence, this great price.
